What are interlocking bricks?

This ability for self-locking in interlocking bricks is achieved through the use of a shear key along with a locking mechanism. Generally, these bricks are produced from a combination of cement, sand, and stone dust. There are primarily two types of interlocking bricks used in building: concrete interlocking bricks and soil interlocking bricks. Concrete interlocking bricks consist of cement, M-sand, fly ash and 6mm stone, whereas interlocking bricks are composed of laterite m-sand mixed with cement. The popularity of these interlocking bricks in the construction sector is attributed to their various beneficial features and affordability.

Interlocking Bricks Manufacturing Process

Interlocking bricks are produced through an accurate method that entails combining and compacting cement, sand, and stone dust in specific ratios.

The process for creating interlocking bricks used in construction generally includes the following phases:

  1. Mixing: The necessary components for interlocking bricks, including cement, m-sand, fly ash and stone are accurately measured and blended in the correct proportions to guarantee that the blend is consistent and uniform.
  2. Compression: The mixed materials are subsequently placed into a hydraulic compression press with 40 ton, where they are compacted with a preferred interlocking design to shape the interlocking bricks. The force exerted during the compression phase is vital for establishing the interlocking feature that enables the bricks to connect seamlessly.
  3. Curing: The compressed bricks are piled and permitted to cure for approximately seven days. Throughout this time, the cement within the blend hardens and adheres to the sand, resulting in interlocking bricks that are durable and strong.

  1. Require Less Water: Building with interlocking bricks uses significantly less water compared to traditional construction methods, as the bricks fit together seamlessly.

Their interlocking shape provides a firm connection between the bricks, removing the necessity for mortar or bonding agents, which in turn shortens construction duration and lowers costs.

  4. Eco-Friendly: Made from natural components like cement, m-sand, and 6mm stones, interlocking bricks are sustainable. They don't undergo burning or firing like traditional bricks do, which helps minimize their carbon emissions and lowers air pollution levels.
  5. Better Insulation in Hot Climates: These bricks have low heat retention properties, helping to maintain cooler indoor temperatures, making them perfect for areas with hot climates.
  6. Quick Construction: The design of these bricks allows for swift and effective building, as they need only about a week for curing post-assembly, thus accelerating project timelines and ensuring savings.
  7. Earthquake Resistant: In contrast to standard bricks, interlocking bricks are capable of spreading seismic forces throughout the structure because of their unique interlocking arrangement, which safeguards against potential collapse during earthquakes.
